Ella Collins (women’s swimming) and Brady Burns (men’s hockey) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending November 5.

Collins, a second-year kinesiology student, had a record-setting week in the pool at the Amby Legere Invitational. She set a team record on Saturday in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:11.78 to win the race with a U SPORTS qualifying time. The previous Acadia record was held by Hannah Doiron with a time of 1:13.34 set in 2016-17. Collins also had two other wins over the weekend, winning the 50m breaststroke (33.56) and 200m breaststroke (2:37.70) events. In the 400m relay, she was part of the second place Axewomen team.

Burns, a first-year community development student, had a five-point weekend for the Axemen. He scored the game-winning goal in a comeback win over the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday night, helping Acadia end a five-game losing streak. He ended the game with two goals and two assists in the 6-3 victory. In Friday’s loss to STFX he also scored the lone Acadia goal.

The Acadia athletes of the week are presented by McDonald's.
