Cam Whynot

Sydney Kennedy (women's soccer) and Cam Whynot (hockey) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending October 15.

Kennedy, a fifth-year independent studies student, was instrumental in a four-point weekend for the Axewomen. In Friday night’s Homecoming match against Saint Mary’s she created the first goal of the match, credited as a Huskies own goal, before going on to score four goals in the 6-0 victory. In a 2-2 draw against Dalhousie on Sunday, she scored both Acadia goals, including the 90th minute goal to give Acadia a point as they continued to hold third place in the AUS.

Whynot, a first-year community development student, led the Axemen with a five-point game in their 9-2 win over the UPEI Panthers on Friday night during their Homecoming game. He led the team in points on the night, being named the first star of the game. On Saturday night against the second-place Saint Mary’s Huskies he had an even +/- on the blueline as the Axemen handed SMU their first loss of the year with a 4-2 Acadia victory.

The Acadia athletes of the week are presented by McDonald's.
