Grace Longley (women’s soccer) and Gabe Davignon (men’s basketball) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending October 29.

Longley, a fourth-year independent studies student, scored the game-winning goal on Thursday night to advance the Axewomen to the AUS semifinal as part of a 4-1 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies. She also scored Friday in the semifinal game against the host Cape Breton Capers, the lone Acadia goal in a 2-1 loss. She was named player of the game in each of the programs playoff matches.

Davignon, a second-year business administration student, led the Axemen to a weekend split against the Saint Mary’s Huskies with a 97-92 overtime victory on Saturday night at home. He scored six of his team-high 23 points in overtime, while going 7-for-14 from the field, 4-for-4 from the line and 5-for-11 from three-point range. In Thursday’s 69-63 loss, he finished the game with eight points off the bench, going 3-for-7 from the field. He was also named the player of the game in the Axemen victory.
