WOLFVILLE – Miguel Boskovic (men’s basketball) and Rebecca Dorsey (women’s volleyball) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending February 11.

Boskovic, a second-year business administration student, was a key piece to the Axemen splitting their week with Saint Mary’s and continuing their postseason push towards the AUS championship. In Thursday’s win on the road, he led all scorers – coming off the bench for 23 points in 23 minutes. He shot 7-for-13 from the floor, with all made shots being three pointers. He was also 2-for-2 from the free throw line, while picking up three steals and pulling in five rebounds. In Saturday’s loss his shooting was efficient again, going 7-for-12 to drop 18 points alongside eight rebounds.

Dorsey, a fifth-year independent studies student, helped the Axewomen to a sweep of the UNB Reds over the weekend to keep them in top spot in the AUS. She finished the weekend with 44 digs and nine assists. In Saturday’s 3-1 victory she finished with a match-high and personal season-high 28 digs, which has her now averaging 4.70 digs per set. This puts her second in the AUS and U SPORTS.

This week the basketball teams host UNB on Wednesday in their rescheduled games from February 3, volleyball hosts Dalhousie on Thursday night and men’s hockey opens their AUS quarter-final round on Wednesday in Antigonish against StFX before returning home to host Game 2 on Saturday night.

The Acadia athletes of the week are presented by McDonald's.
