Swimmers Sophie Rooney and Gordon Shortt have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending October 22.

Rooney, a second-year business student, had four individual first place finishes at the Jack Scholz Invitational over the weekend in the 50m Butterfly, 200m IM, 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle. She also finished first and second in the two relays, winning all but one event she competed in over the two-day meet. Her success also helped the Axewomen finish second in the team standings.

Shortt, a fourth-year business administration major, had four top-three finishes over the weekend at the Jack Scholz Invitational. His victory came in the 400m IM, with third place individual finishes in the 50m and 200m butterfly. Shortt was also part of the third place 200m medley relay. The Axemen finished second overall in the team standings.
