Speaking of Sports is a weekly audio file that features past great Axemen and Axewomen along with teams. It's part of our Throw Back Thursday features provided by local sports enthusiast Stan Cameron. #TBT will be promoted on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for all of our fans to enjoy.

Stan Cameron's Speaking of Sports is featured on the AVR March of Champions radio broadcasts of our hockey Axemen home and away games locally on AVR 97.7 and online at www.avrnetwork.com

About Stan Cameron:

Born in Ottawa, and raised in Nova Scotia, Stan has been involved in the sports community for most of his life. He has been both a player and coach, and an avid fan of many different sports genres.

In 1977 he co-authored, with Nova Scotia sports historian Burton Russell, a best selling book called ‘Nova Scotia Sports Personalities.He has written sports columns for several Nova Scotia newspapers throughout his career.

In 2012 he began writing and producing a radio feature called “Speaking of Sports”, a celebration of the achievements of Canadian athletes and teams. The following year “Speaking of Sports, an Acadia Sports Heritage Moment” began. This feature highlights former Acadia athletes and teams who have brought honor to the university’s athletic programs. He is also involved in the Acadia athletic yearbook. Stan is a member of the Acadia Sports Hall of Fame selection committee.

Now residing in Kentville Stan is the proud father of four children and nine grandchildren.
