Liem named Subway AUS Male Athlete of the Week

Isabel Sarty of Dalhousie Tigers women's swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 11, 2018.

A first-year science student from Bedford, N.S., Sarty led the Tigers to their 17th consecutive AUS conference title this past weekend at the Subway AUS Swimming Championships hosted by UNB at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John, N.B.

She won gold medals in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events, recording three lifetime best performances and set a new Dalhousie record in the 200m freestyle event.

She also swam to gold in all three relay events and earned both the rookie and swimmer of the championship meet honours.

Brett Liem of the Acadia Axemen swim team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Feb. 11, 2018.

A second-year science student from Bedford, N.S., Liem was named the swimmer of the meet at the Subway AUS Swimming Championships held this past weekend in Saint John, N.B.

He topped the podium in the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle, and earned a silver medal in the 100m freestyle.

Liem was also part of the silver medal 400m, 800m freestyle, 400m medley relay teams.

A Friday's awards banquet preceding the championship, he also became the first-ever swimmer from the Acadia Axemen to be named AUS swimmer of the year.
