To Our Valued Acadia Athletics Complex Members:
During these unprecedented and difficult times, I am reminded of how very fortunate I am to live in a community like ours. Throughout the past number of weeks, I have been amazed by the generosity of spirit and willingness of our community to go the extra mile for our family, friends, and neighbors. It makes me so proud to live in the Annapolis Valley.
We know, from hearing from so many of you over the past few weeks, how much our community values the services and programs offered by the Acadia Athletics Complex, and we understand the impact of its closure on our community's health and wellness. Its closure has also reminded us how fortunate we are to have the complex nestled in the heart of our community.
Knowing how the Acadia Athletics Complex's closure has impacted our community, we wanted to reach out to provide you with an update, as best we can to date. Rest assured that our athletic and facility staff are working diligently on reopening plans and processes that meet best practices and public health requirements. Throughout this process, we are continuing to work closely with our key constituents to ensure we meet all health and hygiene standards, as well as continuing positive conversations with groups like the Town of Wolfville and Acadia Students' Union to explore how we can continue to enhance the facility experience for all of our users.|
Our aim is to ensure our return to operations is as smooth as possible for our students and community members. As a University operation, students are our core business and that will be integral to our thinking. While we do not know dates yet, we can tell you that our return to operations will be in a phased process. As areas of the complex are reopened there will be defined parameters for access and flow. As we work to balance our campus and community needs during this process, you may see other public and private facilities reopen on different timelines. This is to be expected, as all facilities will need to determine their own timeline based on their needs, size, users, and health and safety plans.
For those users who have facility memberships that have been suspended as of March 16th, when our Box Office reopens, we will be offering an extension to your facility membership for the time missed during the closure.
When facility operations and programs return to normal, we will also rely on our members to follow all communicated health and hygiene procedures to ensure we are able to keep the Acadia Athletics Complex safe for all users.
