2022 Fall Schedules released by AUS

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Today, Atlantic University Sport released the 2022 fall schedules for women's rugby, men's football, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's cross country, as well as the hosts for the 2022 Subway AUS fall championships. 


Rugby

The 2022 AUS women's rugby season will open on September 10, when the Saint Mary's Huskies host the Acadia Axewomen in Halifax, N.S. and the UPEI Panthers welcome the defending champions, the STFX X-Women, to Charlottetown, P.E.I. Both games will kick off at 2 pm.

The X-Women will host their first home game the following weekend, when Saint Mary's visits Antigonish, N.S. on Friday, September 16 at 7 pm. Acadia's home opener will see the Axewomen face off against STFX on Saturday, September 24 at 2 pm.

After the regular season wraps up on Saturday, October 15, the top three teams will move forward to the 2022 Subway AUS Rugby Championship, with the third-place team visiting the second-place team for the semifinal game the following week. The winner of this game will move on to the 2022 championship final, hosted by the first seed during the week of October 24.

The 2022 U SPORTS women's rugby championship will take place November 2 through 6 in Victoria, BC, when the University of Victoria hosts the country's top teams.


Football

The regular season for AUS football will kick off on Saturday, August 27 with the Saint Mary's Huskies visiting the defending champions' turf, when they face the STFX X-Men at 2 pm.  The same day, the Bishop's Gaiters will be in Wolfville, N.S. taking on Acadia's Axemen at 3 pm.

The Huskies will play the first home game the following weekend, when Acadia visits on Friday, September 2 at 7 pm. Mount Allison's Mounties will open their season at home on Saturday, September 3 when they host Bishop's at 3 pm.

The first Bishop's home game of the season will see a rematch of the 2021 AUS championship final, with the STFX X-Men visiting the Gaiters in Lennoxville, QC, on Saturday, September 17 at 2 pm EST.

At the end of the regular season, the top three teams will play off for the AUS title, starting with the second seed hosting the third seed on Saturday, November 5 at 2 pm. The semifinal winner will advance to the 2022 Subway AUS Loney Bowl, which will be hosted by the conference's top-seeded team on Saturday, November 12 at 2 pm.

The AUS champion will host the Canada West winner for the 2022 Uteck Bowl on Saturday, November 19. The winner of this game will take on the winner of the 2022 Mitchell Bowl in the 2022 Vanier Cup on Saturday, November 26. The host city and venue for this national championship are to be announced.


Soccer

The opening weekend of AUS soccer will see all 10 men's and women's teams in action from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11.

Defending men's soccer champions—and U SPORTS bronze medallists—the Cape Breton Capers, will kick off their regular season at home as they play host to the UPEI Panthers on Saturday, September 10 at 3:15 pm. The 2021 AUS women's soccer champs, the Acadia Axewomen, will welcome the Memorial University Sea-Hawks to their home turf on Sunday, September 11 at 1 pm.

Both the 2022 Subway AUS women's and men's soccer championships will take place October 27 to 30, with Acadia University in Wolfville, NS hosting the women's side and Cape Breton University in Sydney, N.S. hosting the men's.

The 2022 U SPORTS women's soccer championship will take place November 10 to 13 at Université Laval in Quebec City, QC, while the men's national championship will be hosted by Thompson Rivers in Kamloops, B.C.


Cross Country

The men's and women's cross country season will get underway on Saturday, September 17, when teams will gather in Antigonish, N.S. to compete at the STFX Invitational Meet. Teams will head to the Université de Moncton for the second meet of the season on Saturday, October 1.

The UPEI Panthers will host the 2022 Subway AUS Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 29 in Charlottetown, PEI, while Dalhousie and Saint Mary's will team up to co-host the 2022 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 12 in Halifax, N.S.
