Axemen's Cius named 2nd team All-Canadian in U SPORTS re-award.

TORONTO (U SPORTS) – U SPORTS announced Thursday that five football All-Canadian honours have been re-awarded by the national office for the 2018 season including Acadia's Garvin Cius.

Calgary Dinos receiver Hunter Karl and Laval Rouge et Or cornerback Émile Chênevert have been awarded First Team All-Canadian recognition, while Laval receiver Jonathan Breton-Robert, StFX kick returner Kaion Julien-Grant and Acadia cornerback Garvin Cius have been awarded Second Team All-Canadian status.

Garvin, from Malden, MA was an AUS all-star this past season and posted 3 interceptions, 3 breakups and had 34.5 total tackles on teh season. 

Karl, a fourth-year arts major, had 47 catches for 937 receiving yards ranking second in the nation, while also adding six receiving touchdowns. In the Canada West playoffs, the Okotoks, Alta., native had 105 yards and a pair of TDs.

Chênevert, a third-year medical student had 23.5 tackles, four interceptions and six pass breakups in eight regular season games. In the postseason, the Quebec City native added 10 tackles – eight of which were solo – and one pass breakup, helping the Rouge et Or capture a record 10th Vanier Cup title on their home field.

U SPORTS congratulates all five student-athletes on their remarkable accomplishments. The five honours are being handed out retroactively due to doping infractions in the 2018 season.
