Alexandre Athens-Leger commits to Axemen, joins brother Julien

WOLFVILLE – The Axemen offensive line continues to grow with the commitment of Alexandre Athens-Leger for 2024.

The 6’4, 280 lb lineman comes to Acadia having most recently played for the Champlain Lennoxville Cougars (CEGEP) in the RSEQ. This season they lost their league semifinal to Limoilou after finishing the regular season with a 5-3 record.

“Alex is a big bodied, athletic defensive tackle that is coming to Acadia reuniting with his twin brother Julien, who is currently a receiver with us. Alex is someone we can expect to be on the field early in his career and playing meaningful snaps where we need run stoppers.”

Prior to his season in Quebec, the Moncton native played four years at École L'Odyssée for the Olympiens.

In his first season they won the NBIAA championship, going a perfect 13-0.

Most recently in back-to-back years he was named an NBIAA all-star, while also capturing defensive MVP and Canada Cup all-star awards in his senior year. He was a team captain in his senior year and played for Team New Brunswick in 2022 and 2023.

Athens-Leger will be working towards a community development degree while attending Acadia.
