Cassie joins Axemen defensive line

The Axemen are excited to announce the commitment of Tait Cassie for the 2024 season.

An experienced defensive lineman, the 6’2, 235 lb Canmore native comes to Acadia most recently from the Westshore Rebels of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). He helped the Rebels to a first-place finish in 2023, winning the BC conference over the Okanagan Sun. They lost 17-10 in the 2023 Canadian Bowl.

“Tait comes to our football program with a lot of football playing experience. He was an important contributor to the Westshore Rebels football program of the CJFL. Look for him to have an early impact with our football this fall.”

On top of his recent CJFL, he spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Mount Allison.

“Committing to Acadia University means opportunity,” said Cassie. “I'm excited for the challenge that is ahead and being able to share that experience with a team who has the same vision.”

His high school experience was from 2016-20 with the Canmore Wolverines. Individually he was recognized as their rookie of the year in 2016 and in 2020 was named MVP and outstanding lineman. They were two-time Big Sky League champions, plus won the southern Alberta and Alberta provincial championships in 2018.

Cassie will be working towards a business administration degree while attending Acadia.
