WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Kemar Alleyne's (Scarborough, Ont.) 23 points, 14 of which came in the second half, helped the Saint Mary's Huskies hand the host Acadia Axemen a 90-74 loss.

Trailing 22-14 after one quarter, the Axemen closed the gap to 40-36 on a Nick De Palma (Bedford, N.S.) three pointer with 2:07 remaining in the first half.

The Axemen's only lead came at 6:55 of the third quarter when De Palma's jump shot gave Acadia a 46-45 short-lived lead.

On a 21-3 run, the Huskies pushed out to a 66-49 lead and closed out the third quarter with a 68-52 advantage. Three 3pt baskets and a layup by Kemar Alleyne spearheaded the Saint Mary's run that would push the Huskies out to a comfortable third quarter lead.

Down by as much as 19 points at 9:51 in the fourth frame, the Axemen pulled to within eight with 6:09 remaining in the game on a Ben Miller (Winnipeg, Man.) layup but Theon Reefer's (Toronto, Ont.) timely three point basket pushed the Huskies out to a 78-67 lead that would not be narrowed.

Alleyne, named the Subway Player of the Game, had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Theon Reefer added 18 points and Osman Barrie (Ottawa, Ont.) controlled the boards with Alleyne with 10 rebounds and 14 points. Brian Rouse (Mississauga, Ont.) posted 14 points and eight rebounds while off the bench Achuil Lual (Ottawa, Ont.) dropped 10 points and added 10 rebounds.

The Huskies out-rebounded the Axemen 53 to 30 with 41 of the rebounds coming off of the defensive boards.

Nick De Palma led the Axemen with 21 points – 15 from three point baskets, while graduating senior Shaquille Smith (North Preston, N.S.) had 16 points. Erik Nissen (Quispamsis, N.B.) added 12 points and six rebounds.

With the loss, Acadia finds themselves tied with UNB and the Huskies with 28 points. Saint Mary's will head to Cape Breton on Saturday night for their last regular season game, while the Axemen travel to UNB on Saturday. UNB has a game in hand and host UPEI on Friday night.. All games are worth four points in the standings.
