Axemen pick up win in Day 3 of Shoveller

HALIFAX, N.S. - Kyle Arsenault had a game-high 29 points to lead the Acadia Axemen to an 89-75 win over the Mount Royal Cougars in the opening game of day three of the Rod and Joan Memorial Men's Basketball Tournament, hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers. 

Acadia controlled the play for most of the game and improved to 2-1 over the weekend, while Mount Royal dropped to 0-3. 

Erik Nissen scored 20 points and had nine rebounds for Acadia and Nick De Palma added 12 points and six rebounds. 

Josh Ross led the way for Mount Royal recording a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Glen Yang and Craig Martin had 12 points apiece. 

Acadia will resume the regular season as they head to Antigonish to take on StFX January 6, while Mount Royal will take on the Brandon Bobcats the same day.
