WOLFVILLE, N.S. - After playing most of the game from behind, the Axemen came out on top in their game against Memorial with a final score of 66-54.

The afternoon game began with a close first 10 minutes, with Memorial leading by only 2 points. The score going into the second was 18-16.

Acadia kept the game within reach for the rest of the half, though Memorial would hold onto their lead. With the gap now expanded to 5, the Seahawks sat ahead 34-29.

At the half, Boris Ristanovic (St. John's, Nfld.) of the Seahawks and Trevon Grant (Wolfville, N.S.) of the Axemen both had 11 points to lead all players.

Ristanovic finished with a game-high 18 points and 8 rebounds. He made both of this three-point attempts and was named his team's Subway Player of the Game.

Memorial shot 15/32 from the field and 4/10 from three in the first half, both better than Acadia. 

Acadia began the third quarter with a 7-point run to give them a lead, but it was short-lived, as the Seahawks replied with more three-pointers.

Grant took sole possession of the scoring lead after three quarters with 17 points on 8/10 shooting. He would add 6 rebounds and an assist, making him Acadia's Subway Player of the Game.

The score entering the last quarter was tied 50-50.

The Axemen got the first several points in the fourth and quietly gave themselves a decent lead, up by 12 with 3 minutes left to go.

Acadia ran the clock down for the last few minutes and took the 66-54 win and improve to 3-6.

"I feel we came into our own zone to play to win instead of playing like they are a team on our level. Over the Christmas holidays we had a week and a couple days of good practices. The coaching staff had us going through drills to find our spots on the floor and I feel like all the guys are buying in right now," noted Grant after the game

The Axemen were able to hold the Seahawks off to only 21 made shots from the field, while Acadia had 27.

A rematch of Saturday's game will take place on Sunday afternoon.
