WOLFVILLE – The Acadia men’s basketball team is excited to announce the commitment of Joeseph Dongelmans for the 2024-25 season.

From Orillia, Ont., the 6’10 centre comes to the Axemen from Ridley College of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) where he played from 2022-24.

“We are excited to have Joe join the Axemen,” said head coach Michael Leslie.”Joe has length and size to become an impactful player. His growth and development over the past season under coach Victor Rasso at Ridley College has been impressive. He is a great person and teammate and will be a great addition to our roster.”

Prior to playing with Ridley, Dongelmans played for the Orillia Lakers. With the Lakers he was a two-time Ontario Cup champion. He also played a season with AAU Grassroots and AAU Canada Elite in the Canadian Youth Basketball League (CYBL).

“It really means a lot, it’s such a beautiful school and everyone I’ve talked to about it has had great things to say,” said Dongelmans. “I am very excited to start my career as an Axeman and thank the coaches for providing me with this great opportunity to be part of such a positive and encouraging community.”
