Axemen soccer announce commitment of Coldbrook, NS native Noah Schurman

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University and the Axemen soccer team announced today the commitment of local soccer player Noah Schurman.

An attacking mid-fielder from Coldbrook, N.S., Schurman will begin attending Acadia in the fall of 2020 while working towards a Bachelor of Kinesiology.

"The team and coaching staff make the future of an AUS Championship look promising. Also, Acadia's small class sizes and excellent reputation was the perfect fit for me," noted Schurman.

The Central Kings High School team's Most Valuable Player in 2019, Schurman captained the team to a 2019 Regional and Provincial Championship and was the league's leading scorer in 2017.

In club play, Schurman was part of the U15-U17 Vancouver Whitecaps Academy from 2016 to 2018 and was designated as a High Potential Prospect.

Schurman played for the Suburban FC from 2018 to 2019 and in 2018, the team captured a U17 Nova Scotia provincial championships and finished ninth at the National Championship.

Schurman has been a member of the provincial Team Nova Scotia since 2015 as a U15 player until 2018. While with Team Nova Scotia, Schurman was a winner of the Atlantic Championship in 2015 and 2016 and a silver medalist in 2017.

Since 2015, Schurman has been at several ID and developmental camps including Canadian National Team ID Camp in the U15 age group; participated in the Ignite National Athlete Development Program; the Vancouver Whitecaps Showcase (2017, 2018) and the Montreal Impact Showcase (2015, 2016).

"I have followed closely, Noah's progress for several years and I am delighted he has chosen to join us at Acadia. Noah has great vision and game intelligence and will create and score goals," noted associate head coach Findlay MacRae.
