Playoff race stays tight with Axemen and Huskies playing to draw

WOLFVILLE – Heading into the final two weekends of AUS soccer action, only two teams have solidified their spots in the postseason, Cape Breton and STFX, with the playoff race heating up.

A key match on Friday night saw Acadia and Saint Mary's play to a 0-0 draw.

The Huskies currently sit in the final playoff spot with 12 points, while Acadia is two points back of them in seventh with 10 points.

Dylan Legere made six saves for Acadia, while the Huskies' Ryan Davis made four in the draw.

Prior to the match, the five graduating seniors for the Axemen were recognized. The 2023 class includes: Ben Chisholm, Liam Kelly, Noah SchurmanWaleed Hamarsheh and Oscar Marshall.

Acadia will now travel to Halifax on Sunday to face the Dalhousie Tigers, while Saint Mary's hosts UPEI the same day.
