Hill brings defensive skillset to Axemen soccer program

WOLFVILLE – The Acadia men’s soccer program is excited to announce the commitment of Xavier Hill for the 2024 season.

A 6’1 centre-back from Dartmouth, he comes to Acadia from Halifax City Soccer Club. The U17 AAA boys program he played with during the 2023 season were Nova Scotia Soccer League champions, Canada Soccer national championship bronze medalists, Soccer Nova Scotia performance team of the year and U17 AAA boys Nova Scotia Cup winners.

At the national championship he was named a second team all-star for his performance.

“We're really happy that Xavier has committed to Acadia. He's a great student with a clear focus and a humble hard-working personality,” said head coach Amit Batra. “He's willing to put his body on the line, and read attacks by the opponent and moves to intercept them or make timely tackles. He's positionally excellent defensively and very difficult to beat in a duel. All these qualities are exactly what we're looking for in our recruits as the program continues to drive in the right direction.”

Prior to playing for Halifax, he played with United Dartmouth Football Club from 2014-22. During the 2023-24 year he was also part of the Vancouver Whitecaps Caps to College Program.

“Going to Acadia this fall will offer me the opportunity to study kinesiology and realize my dream of playing university soccer,” said Hill. “I am looking forward to becoming a member of the Acadia community, contributing to the soccer program and my personal growth over the next four years.”
