DAY 1 of AUS Championship Swim Meet at UPEI

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The opening day of the AUS Swimming Championship hosted by UPEI was fruitful for the Axewomen and Axemen. 

While Dalhousie captured 10 of 12 events on the opening day, the Acadia swim team took home six medals in the several sprint events.

AUS Rookie of the Year, Brett Liem, captured bronze in the 100m Breaststroke, while veteran Adam Deutsch won silver in the same event.
First year swimmer Ben Henger was the first to win a medal in the 50m Backstroke. 

On the women's side, first year Axewoman Nicole Windsor grabbed silver in the 100m Butterfly, while teammate and fourth year swimmer Alison MacEachern earned a bronze medal in the same event.

Axemen Brendan Vibert, Brett Liem, Ben Henger and Adam Deutsch fell short by just over a second in capturing gold in the 400m Freestyle relay. Acadia settled for Silver with a time of 3:28.77 compared to Dal's winning time of 3:27.45

The Axewomen finished fourth in the 400m Freestyle relay.
