Axemen lead Tigers in men's results, Acadia trails in combined

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – After two sessions on the opening day of the Jack Scholz Memorial Swim Meet, the Dalhousie Tigers lead in the combined standings with 845 points, trailed by host Acadia at 634.5 points.

In the men's standings, the Axemen are surprise leaders with 360.5 points compared to trailing Dalhousie with 327 points. On the Women's side, Dalhousie leads Acadia 454 points to 218 points.

Both Dalhousie and Acadia have comfortable leads over UNB and Mount Allison heading in to tomorrow's third and final session.

The 2018 AUS Most Valuable Swimmer Brett Liem captured three wins including 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle.

Top women's performers included Tiger's Isabel Sarty with wins in the 50m and 100m Freestyle and Olivia Feschuk with top times in 200m Breaststroke and Backstroke.

Dalhousie's Alec Karlsen grabbed wins in the 200m Butterfly and 400m IM. Tiger Tyler Herron finished first in the 100m and 200m Backstroke.

Overall, Dalhousie had 14 wins of 22 events, while the host Axemen and Axewomen pulled in 5 golds. UNB had two wins and Mount Allison posted one.

Both mixed relays – mixed 400m medley and mixed 400m freestyle were won by Dalhousie.

All four teams are in the pool for the last of three sessions at 11:00 am Sunday.
