Acadia Swim Team announces additions to the 2019-20 roster

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia swimming head coach Gary MacDonald is pleased to announce this year's incoming class of freshmen and freshwomen.

This year's first year student-athletes include swimmers from Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The Axemen and Axewomen swim teams will have a full complement of 18 swimmers per gender, making this year's team the largest in recent history.

"The 2019-20 season should be a very exciting year for the Axemen and Axewomen. For the first time we have two full teams, 21 men and 18 women," said head coach Gary MacDonald.

In his fifth year as the Acadia swim team's head coach, MacDonald noted that the last few seasons including this year have been outstanding recruiting years.

"After a banner recruiting year, the AUS Championships are within our reach. After coming close two years ago, this year's recruiting class of eight men could provide the competitive edge to put us over the top. The women have added five new swimmers and hope to close the gap against the Dal Tigers," noted MacDonald.

Coach MacDonald is very excited to start competing and get the ball rolling. First stop UNB. The team begins the AUS season on October 19-20 weekend at UNB and then host the first of two AUS meets at Acadia on November 2-3.
