The Acadia swim team continues to build their recruitment class for 2024-25 with the commitment of Alexander Hussey.

From Saint John, N.B., he joins Acadia from the Saint John Fundy Swim Club (TIDE) where he began swimming in 2010. Over that time, he has received two most improved swimmer of the year awards, as well as two highest FINA point race of the year awards. He mainly competes as a freestyle swimmer, in particular distance freestyle.

Hussey currently holds 28 club records and two provincial records, with his performances also earning him a sport on the New Brunswick Canada Games team.

“I’m very excited to continue my swimming journey with the Acadia swim team, where I hope to help out the team as much as I possibly can, and I cannot wait to be pushed to my limits every single day to attain my goals and form memories that will last forever.”

On top of his club swimming, he was also a member of the Saint John High School swim team from 2021-24. Individually, he was named MVP twice while with the program.

Hussey will be working towards an engineering degree while attending Acadia.
