Iseyemi named U SPORTS All-Canadian

Elizabeth Iseyemi has been named a U SPORTS All-Canadian for the first time in her career at Acadia.

Announced Wednesday night in Edmonton as part of the U SPORTS women’s basketball championship at the All-Canadian award ceremony, Iseyemi was named a second team All-Canadian.

Prior to her national recognition she was recognized as an AUS first team all-star.

This was her third AUS all-star recognition, being named a second team all-star in the previous two seasons.

This season Iseyemi led the conference in points per game with 22.0 and field goal percentage at 50.1 per cent. She was second in rebounds and rebounds per game with 226 and 11.3 respectively, while also being third in steals with 37. Her points per game put her second in the country, while she finished fourth in the country in rebounds per game.

The U SPORTS women’s basketball championship opens on Thursday at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton at the University of Alberta.

All four quarterfinals will be played on Thursday, as follows: (all times Mountain)

12:30 p.m.: No. 7 UFV vs. No. 2 Carleton

2:30 p.m.: No. 6 Queen’s vs. No. 3 Saint Mary’s

6 p.m.: No. 8 Calgary vs. No. 1 Saskatchewan

8 p.m.: No. 4 Laval at No. 5 Alberta
