U SPORTS No. 3 Axewomen improve to 4-0 with win over Huskies.

Halifax, N.S.– A beautiful fall Sunday afternoon was the backdrop for AUS Women's Rugby action as the Saint Mary's Huskies played host to the Acadia Axewomen.

A good crowd was treating to some quality rugby play as these two dueled in the city in a re-match of
their early season game in the valley.

The Axewomen opened the scoring three minutes into the match when Mychael Paris found the touch
line for the try. With the convert by Sara Grant the Axewomen were up 7-0.

With the Huskies fighting to get out of their end a turnover led to another Axewomen try by Grace Pinch
and with the Grant conversion the score stood at 14-0.

Much of the half was played in the Huskies end with the Acadia squad bolstering their lead on a couple
of wide field tries by Paris, Ebehiremen Otoikhine, Chloe Buckingham and Shaely Moodie. Grant was
good on one of the conversions to bring the lead to 36-0.

Late in the half Acadia's Kylie Mansen scored again to bring the halftime lead to 41-0.
The second half saw the Axewomen pick up where they left off as Katya Dondi increased the lead to 46-
0.

The Huskies never stop fighting and seem to change the tide of the half when they hit the scoreboard on
a try by Brianna Clowater (Moncton NB / Arts) to make it 46-5.

Acadia's Juliette Matsukubo furthered their lead on a score in the fifteenth minute but the Saint Mary's
squad answered right back with a try by Elish Redshaw on a strip and scamper down the sidelines to
make it 51-10.

Despite their best efforts the Huskies, pinned deep in their end they surrendered scores from Liz Francis
and Emilie Merlainen late in the game. With conversions from Grant again the final score stood at 65-10
for the Axewomen.

Huskies player of the game was veteran Maggie MacPhee (Halifax / Arts) while the AUS Subway player
of the game from Acadia was Mychael Paris.

Up next for the Huskies (0-4) will be the St. Francis University X-Women Wednesday night under the
lights at Huskies Stadium.
