Earle to join Soccer Axewomen's coaching staff

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia women's soccer head coach Amit Batra announced today that former Axewomen Meghan Earle will join the team this fall as an assistant coach.

"It's special to be able to come back and be involved with an amazing program, and I'm thankful to Amit for the opportunity to join the coaching staff. I feel like it's the right time for me after gaining coaching experience in the ACAA/CCAA and having some time away from Acadia after being a player within the program. I'm looking forward to getting to know each player on and off the pitch, while also working together to bring more championships back to Acadia," noted Earle.

Originally from Mount Pearl, Nfld., Meghan moved to Nova Scotia to attend Acadia after captaining her province's Canada Games team in 2013.

Named the AUS Most Valuable Player of the Year in 2015, Earle was honoured as an AUS All-Star twice and as a USPORTS All-Canadian during her time at Acadia. A five-time Academic All-Canadian, Earle brings a wealth of experience as a player to the team.

Since her last season in 2018, Earle has spent three years as an assistant coach with the University of King's College women's soccer team. She has also been a coach with the United Dartmouth Football Club over the last four seasons and currently assists with the U17AAA girls team.

"Meghan had a great five-year career and was part of some exceptional teams, but she also brought so much more to the community. Meg was involved in coaching in the Valley United system and has continued to pursue coaching experiences at college, club, and at the REX level and we want to support her coaching journey and ambitions," noted Batra.

"Meghan is a student of the game and with her knowledge and experience I know our players will benefit greatly and I'm thrilled that she is coming home to the Axewomen program."

The Axewomen begin the AUS regular season on the road at STFX on Friday, September 9, and open at home on Sunday, September 11 vs. Memorial at 1:00 p.m.
