Acadia recognized with six AUS soccer all-stars

The Acadia Axewomen program had five players named AUS all-stars on Wednesday, while the Axemen had one member announced prior to the championships beginning this week in Cape Breton.

Mya Harnish and Sydney Kennedy were each named first team all-stars for the Axewomen. Harnish, a defender, helped keep Acadia oppoenents to only 13 goals over 12 matches - the second lowest total in the conference. Kennedy, a striker, finished third in the conference with 12 goals. She also added three assists and one game-winning goal. 

Named to the second team were Grace Longley, Leah Adams and Abbey Aucoin. Longley, a midfielder, finished sixth in AUS scoring with seven goals, while Aucoin, a striker, was eighth in goals with six. Aucoin had seven assists, while Longley finished with two. Adams scored two goals from her role as a defender with the Axewomen, while also playing a key role in shutting down her opponents offensive threats. 

On the men's side, Anderson Peters was the lone Axemen to receive recognition. Named to the second team, Peters finished eighth in conference scoring with four goals, while adding two assists. 

Thursday the women's soccer team face Saint Mary's in their AUS quarter-final at CBU. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
