Axewomen win first of three matches in Newfoundland

(St. John's, NL)  The Sea-Hawks dropped their first match of the season in an intense 5-set battle against the Acadia Axewomen, losing (3-2). 

The first set was taken by the Axewomen, winning 25-18. Memorial fought hard to come back and won the second set 25-22, but Acadia wouldn't let them get the upper hand and won the third set 25-15. Memorial took back the fourth set, winning 25-20, but were unable to capitalize in the last set and dropped a close game 15-10. 

Acadia's Lauren Renzella (Stouffville, ON) finished the game with an impressive 16 kills and 11 digs. Her teammate Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON) also had a strong performance, registering 14 kills, 2 service aces, and 7 digs. Peyton DeWolfe won the Subway Player of the game for the Axewomen, hitting 11 kills and 8 digs. 

Memorial gave a strong team performance, with notable stats from Kaitlyn Kachinka (Edmonton, Alberta) who dominated the play with 11 kills and 3 service aces. Belle De Vries (Barrhead, Alberta) recorded 10 kills and 15 digs, and Margaret Henley (St. John's, NL) won the player of the game for the Sea-Hawks with 37 assists.
