SMU sweeps Acadia 3-0 to win best of 3 series

(HALIFAX, NS) – Second year Left Side, Olivia Bell (La Have, NS) paced the
Huskies with 11 points to lead her team to a 3-0 win over the visiting Acadia
University Axewomen on Friday to win the best of 3 series.


Acadia's outside hitter Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON) paced the Axewomen
with 12.5 points and added12 digs.


The Huskies won the first set 25-15, after Acadia took the first two points. The
Huskies continued to climb back and lead by 10-4 at one point. As the set
progressed, SMU steadily increased their lead.


The 2nd set was tighter which saw both teams go back and forth. Set scores
were tied 9-9, but eventually SMU pulled away and won the set 25-17.

The third set was much closer seeing teams trade points. With the play going
back and forth, the score was tied 12 and the continued to be back and forth.
Eventually SMU came out on top and won the set 25-21.

Saint Mary's kill percentage was .182 compared to Acadia's .057. SMU had
52 digs, and Acadia 43.

Fifth year setter, Emilla Conlon earned Subway player of the game honors
with 29 assists on the night.

With the win, the Huskies move onto the best of 3 final series vs the #1
Dalhousie Tigers. The series begins Thursday at Dalplex.
