Conception Bay South's Jenna Lake commits to Volleyball Axewomen

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia Athletics and Acadia women's volleyball head coach Michelle Wood are pleased to announce the commitment by Conception Bay South, Nfld. native Jenna Lake to the Axewomen team in the fall of 2021.

A 6' outside hitter and honour roll student, Lake attends Queen Elizabeth High School and was named as the most valuable player following the 2019-20 season as regional champions. She has also spent the last two seasons with the Newfoundland Huskies Club and recently with the 18U Sea-Hawks High Performance Club. Lake was named as the Elite of the East tournament MVP and captured a bronze medal win with the Sea-Hawks.

"Jenna is a 6 - rotational volleyball player. Offensively she can score from both the back row and front row. Her ball control and defensive read have been key parts of her game. Jenna's discipline, compete level and work ethic will contribute to both her individual success as well as our programs success. We've been looking forward to Jenna joining our program for a long time," said Wood.

A veteran Team Newfoundland member since the U14 level, Lake recently attended the Team Canada Excellence tryout in Halifax last February.

Lake comes from a volleyball background with her mother attending Memorial University in the 1990's as an outside hitter and played Canada Games in 1992, while her brother also played in the Canada Games in 2017. Her father coached with Volleyball Newfoundland provincial team programs and at Jenna's high school.

Lake has enrolled in a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree and is looking forward to her arrival on campus in the fall.

"I really like the overall family feeling that the university provides. I am looking forward to experiencing life on campus, away from home and learning in a great environment. I also am looking forward to meeting my teammates and coaches and having a great varsity career," noted Lake when asked why she chose Acadia.
