Carver commits to Axewomen volleyball program

WOLFVILLE – The Acadia Axewomen are excited to announce Amy Carver has committed to the volleyball program for the 2024-25 season.

Born in Frimley, UK, she spent her high school years in Calgary where she played high school and club volleyball. At the club level from 16U to 18U she was a member of the Junior Dinos Volleyball Club under Shannon Rossall. With the Dinos she won provincial bronze in 2022 and 2023.

“As an outside hitter, Amy has all of the tools to be successful at the U SPORTS level,” said head coach Michelle Wood. “Offensively, she can score using effective shots, but she can also hit a ball with pace. She will provide stability in the back court with her passing and defensive ability. We're looking forward to coaching Amy.”

During that time she was also a member of Team Alberta in 2021 and 2022, while also becoming an Alberta beach provincial champion in 2021.

Carver, a 6’0 outside hitter, has enroled in the kinesiology program for fall 2024. While her academic program was a great fit for her, she really felt the volleyball program was the best fit for her after visit.

“I chose Acadia mainly for the great volleyball program and coaches, the small-town family feel I felt on my visit and never hearing a bad word said about the university,” she said. “I’m looking forward to experiencing life away from home and to learn in an amazing environment. I’m also super excited to join the Axewoman family and to ‘Defend the Stu!’”

On top of her club and provincial accolades, Carver was a member of All Saints High School’s varsity volleyball team, where she was the only Grade 10 to make the roster in 2021-22.
