McDonald joins 2024 volleyball recruitment class

WOLFVILLE – Continuing the growth of their strong 2024 recruitment class, Axewomen volleyball is excited to have Charley McDonald commit for the 2024-25 season.

The 6’2 middle hails from Ottawa, Ont., playing for Maverick Volleyball Club.

“We are thrilled to add Charley to our roster for the 2024 season,” said head coach Michelle Wood. “Charley's physical presence at the net will create some challenges for our opponents and make things easier for our defence. She is a competitor who is driven to excel at the U SPORTS level and will add to our competitive culture.”

McDonald has played the last three seasons with Maverick Volleyball Club in the 16U, 17U and 18U programs where she had a fifth place Ontario provincial finish and attend youth nationals with the 17U team.

On top of her club experience she was a member of Team Canada’s U19 squad in 2022, where she experienced her most memorable volleyball moment – playing in the Canada Cup Tournament.

She also spent Fall 2022 to Sprint 2024 with Team Ontario Elite and in 2023 was with Team Ontario Black.

Competing with Hillcrest High School, she was the junior girls volleyball MVP in 2022, senior girls volleyball MVP in 2023 and was on the honour roll from Grades 9-11.

McDonald will be working towards a biology degree while attending Acadia.
