Axewomen volleyball welcomes Lemay-Evans to 2024 recruitment class

WOLFVILLE – The Axewomen have officially welcomed 6’1 middle Mia Lemay-Evans to their 2024 volleyball recruitment class.

From Sudbury, Ont., she will join sister Alexia on the court in September 2024.

“Mia's discipline and work ethic is apparent in her growth over the past couple of years,” said head coach Michelle Wood. “She is a very strong blocker who jumps high. Her beach volleyball training has supported her development. Offensively she can hit a variety of shots and has a tough serve that we'll be able to rely on for some points. And how can you not love the idea of having the two Lemay-Evans sisters both wearing the A!"

Over the last three years at Collège Notre-Dame she has experienced plenty of individual and team success. She was the 2023 MVP of the senior coed and girls volleyball teams on top of being a member of the 2022 NOSSA championship team.

A member of the Northern Chill Volleyball Club, Lemay-Evans was the 16U Chill's most valuable player and provincial all-star after finishing second at 16U provincials. The following season she was named 17U most valuable player again.

She has also been involved in the Team Ontario Elite program since 2022 and was a member of Team Ontario Black and Elite during both 2022 and 2023 seasons, which saw her travel to British Columbia for their training camp.

"I chose Acadia because it was the perfect size for me. The town is very beautiful and the community is very unique," said Lemay-Evans. “I’m looking forward to playing volleyball with my sister and moving to a new province. As well as meeting new people and experiencing new things.”

Lemay-Evans will be working towards a nursing degree while attending Acadia.
