Campbell leads Axewomen at U SPORTS championship

HALIFAX, N.S. - UBC runner Glynis Sim was the top finisher of the 2022 U SPORTS women's cross-country championship, finishing the eight-kilometre course in a time of 28:19, followed by Laval's Jessy Lacourse (28:31) and fellow Thunderbird Kiana Gibson (28:54).

With five runners in the top 15, the University of Laval Rouge et Or captured their third national championship title in the last four years, beating out second-place UBC by one point to win.

Acadia's Ella Campbell was the Axewomen's top finisher at 113th spot with a time of 33:16.

Ava Stefanovich-Thomson (122nd), Paris Buchanan (124th), Taylor Long (138th), Elyse Czlayplay (140th), Jenni Simpson (142nd) and Lauren Doyle (143rd) rounded out the field of Axewomen running in the Naitonal championship hosted by Dalhousie and Saint Mary's at  The Links at Brunello Golf Course in Halifax.
