The Axewomen soccer team stunned the No. 1 seeded Ottawa Gee Gees in the opening quarterfinal game at the U SPORTS women’s soccer national championship in Victoria this past weekend. The fell short in the bronze medal game with a Penalty Kick loss to Toronto, but Axewomen defender Lauren Jodrey was outstanding in all three games in the championship tournament. Jodrey, a second year defender from Bedford, N.S. was named the Player of the Game in two of the three Axewomen games. She was also the only player of a non-medaling team, to be named as a championship tournament All-Star.
