The Axewomen rugby team at the U SPORTS Women’s Rugby National Championship hosted in Ottawa, finished the tournament in sixth place among eight teams with a 1-2 record. The Axewomen won their first game at a U SPORTS Championship after seven visits to the National Championship. Fourth-year centre Laura Pfleiderer was named the Player of the Game in two of the three games the Axewomen played including their win against the Calgary Dinos and their loss in the consolation final. Pfleiderer was also named to the U SPORTS Championship Tournament All-Star team along with teammate Emilie Merilainen.
