Athletics offers Acadia Sports Academy for those affected by COVID-19 cancellations

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University's Department of Athletics announced today the addition of the Acadia Sports Academy to their programming lineup. The Academy becomes an extension of Acadia's sport camps heading into the fall season.

With the postponement or cancellation of various youth sport programming by provincial and local organizations, Acadia Athletics felt compelled to offer local youth an opportunity to train and hone their skills on the sport they love in a supportive, professional environment.

The primary objectives of the Sport Academy include, providing training opportunities for athletes within our community, leadership development for our Acadia varsity-athletes and field experience for our various partners including the Acadia Performance Training (APT) interns lead by Elliott Richardson.

The programs offered are inclusive and welcome all athletes looking to develop their skills through an integrated approach that includes sport specific technical training, optional strength and conditioning, nutrition and injury prevention.

"Athletes that attend our Acadia Sports Academy will get to experience the uniqueness of stepping foot in our Athletic Complex on the various playing fields, with some of the most respected student-athletes in the AUS," said head volleyball coach Michelle Wood who has worked on the creation of the Acadia Sport Academy along with other Acadia varsity team coaches.

Acadia Sports Academy will offer programming in football, soccer, hockey, basketball and volleyball beginning in late September and carrying over into the winter months.

Registration for the Acadia Sport Academy begins now.
