WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Football Canada's U20 Team Canada will begin their defence of the gold medal at the 2018 IFAF World Jr Championships this Saturday, July 14, as they take on Sweden at 4:00 pm CDT at Olympic Stadium in Mexico City.

Two Axemen and Acadia head coach Jeff Cummins will be part of the team that will try to deliver another IFAF World Jr. Championship gold medal.

Second-year Axemen receiver Glodin Mulali and defensive lineman Anderson Recker will represent Acadia on the World Jr. National Team.

From Moncton, N.B., Mulali played in five games in his freshman year last season and pulled in nine receptions for 150 yards.

Recker, from Halifax, N.S., suited up for all eight regular season games in his first season as an Axeman.

The last IFAF World Jr. Championship was held in Harbin, China in 2016 and Cummins was part of the coaching staff then.

"This trip is a great football and cultural experience. The opportunity to play with a great team and represent their country, families and current teams is second to none experience for Glodin and Anderson," noted Cummins.

The three departed Canada on Monday, July 10th and have been adjusting to the surroundings and weather this week with the first of three games scheduled against Sweden on Saturday followed by the loser of Japan versus host Mexico on July 18th. The final medal round is set for July 22nd.
