Acadia Axemen quarterback Hunter Guenard is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 13, 2019.

A fourth-year arts student from Calgary, Guenard threw 18 completions on 33 attempts for 313 yards passing and three touchdowns in Acadia's 44-25 win over the StFX X-Men Friday night in Wolfville, N.S.

He currently leads the conference in touchdowns (13), passing yards (1,701) and yards per game (283.5), and has just three interceptions this season. 

With the win, the Axemen (6-0) secured sole possession of first place in the conference standings and hosting rights to the Subway AUS Loney Bowl.

Position: Linebacker

Hometown: Thornhill, Ont. 

Year of eligibility: Second
Academic program: Politics and International Studies

Height and weight: 6'4", 205 lbs

 

Liam Patton from the Bishop's Gaiters has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A second-year linebacker from Thornhill, Ont., Patton led the Gaiters with 7.5 tackles (six solo and three assisted) in Bishop's 23-15 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies Friday night in Lennoxville, Que.

He also had a sack for a loss of eight yards in the Gaiters' victory. With the win, Bishop's (4-3) is now in sole possession of second place in the AUS standings.

Height and weight: 5'8", 175 lbs

 

Glodin Mulali from the Acadia Axemen is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Oct. 13, 2019.

A third-year receiver/returner from Moncton, N.B., Mulali had 311 all-purpose yards in Acadia's 44-25 Friday night win over StFX. His 111-yard kickoff return set a new Acadia school record and was the second longest in AUS history.

He had 134 total kickoff return yards and five punt returns for 16 yards in the win.

Mulali was also a force offensively with six receptions for 139 yards and a touchdown, along with two carries for 12 yards rushing.

He was named Subway Player of the Game for his efforts.
