Bedford’s Frenette to join Basketball Axemen in fall of 2019

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Bedford, N.S. native Joe Frenette will join the Axemen Basketball team this coming fall. Acadia University and men's basketball team head coach Kevin Duffie announced today that Frenette has committed to the program and will be working towards a Bachelor of Business Administration degree beginning in September.

Duffie is thrilled that Frenette chose Acadia based on his physical presence and demeanor.

"Joe has great physical size and complimentary footwork and skill set for the AUS level. He is a great person, teammate and overall fit as an Acadia student-athlete. We have known Joe and coached him in the past and are very happy that he chose to continue his basketball career at Acadia. We think Joe will transition to the AUS level very quickly," noted Duffie.

"I chose Acadia because it felt like a home away from home. I think Acadia is a place where I can excel in the sport of basketball, and in the classroom. I want to give 100% in everything I do and of course build relationships and bonds that will last a lifetime. I can't wait to get to work at Acadia," said Frenette when asked why he chose Acadia.

The 6'7" forward who played for Charles P. Allen High School this past season, was recently named as a Metro League All-Star.

A member of the U15 and U17 Basketball Nova Scotia provincial teams, Frenette captured a National Championship in 2017 with the U17 Team Nova Scotia squad.
