Former Basketball Axeman Owen Klassen signs at Antwerp

Eurobasket.com - Antwerp, Belgium - Telenet Giants Antwerp (Euromillions League) landed former Axeman and 27-year old Canadian ex-international power forward Owen Klassen. Klassen played most recently at MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg in the German BBL league. In 31 games he averaged 10.0 ppg and 6.1 rpg last season. Selected as a League Player of the Week, Klassen also played 12 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 9.3 ppg and 6.1 rpg.

For most of the 2017-18 season, Klassen spent with the Oliver Baskets (also in BBL). In 21 games, he recorded 8.6 ppg and 5.5 rpg. The other team Klassen played that season for was PAOK Thessaloniki (A1) in Greek league. In nine games with PAOK, he compiled 7.1 ppg and 5.8 rpg. He also played nine games in Basketball Champions League where he got 5.1 ppg and 3.6 rpg

Among other achievements, Klassen's team won Montenegrin Cup in 2017. He was named as an AUS All-Star and AUS Defensive Player of the Year award for three consecutive years between 2012 and 2014 while at Acadia University.

Klassen represented Canada at the World University Games in Kazan (Russia) six years ago. His team got to the Semifinals.

Klassen has played professionally in North Macedonia (MZT Skopje) and Montenegro (Buducnost).

He graduated from Acadia University in 2014 and is in his sixth season in pro basketball.
