North Vancouver's Eruera commits to Basketball Axemen

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University men's basketball head coach Michael Leslie announced today the commitment by Jonah Eruera to join the Axemen team this coming fall.

"Jonah is a raw, talented, and physically gifted player who brings size, athleticism and a willingness to defend and rebound. He is an absolute pleasure to coach and work with as a player and person.  He continues to develop his skills and things he can achieve at the offensive end and when he gets those pieces in place, he will be a very dynamic basketball player who impacts the game on many levels.  He is unselfish, hates to lose, and will do anything he can to help his team and teammates have success.  He is a great addition to our roster," said Axemen head coach Michael Leslie about the latest addition to the Axemen roster.

A 6'4" power forward from North Vancouver, B.C., Eruera played this past season for the Handsworth Secondary School Royals and the 3D Basketball Club.

With the Handsworth Royals, Ereura was named a tournament all-star at the No Regrets Tournament in the December of 2021. Last summer, Ereura was a member of the U17 3D basketball team that captured gold at the Western Canadian Championship Tournament.

"Acadia is a great school with intelligent coaches, skilled players, and a great support system who will push me to become a better player everyday," noted Eruera when asked why he chose Acadia.

Eruera is enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program.

The Axemen will kick off the AUS regular season on the road at StFX on Wednesday, October 26, and return to Wolfville for their home opener on Saturday, October 29 vs StFX – 8:00 p.m. start.
