    FREDERICTON (U SPORTS) – Acadia forward Michael Clarke (Halifax, N.S.) had two goals in the first period, and Daniel Petterson (Toronto, Ont.) added two in the second to lead the Axemen to a 7-3 win over StFX, in the bronze medal game at the 2017 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup.

    FREDERICTON (U SPORTS) – The Acadia University Axemen, seeded last in the top eight teams, eliminated the top-ranked University of Alberta Golden Bears by a 4-1 score in the opening game of the 2017 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup at the Aitken University Centre in Fredericton. The tournament is being hosted by the University of New Brunswick.

    FREDERICTON (U SPORTS) – Philippe Maillet, a fourth-year forward from the UNB Varsity Reds, was named the U SPORTS Player of the Year in men’s hockey, Wednesday night. Acadia's Geoff Schemitsch was honoured as a second team All-Canadian. Schemitsch was named a first team AUS All-Star and the AUS Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year last week.

    WOLFVILLE, N.S. – The StFX X-Men took a stranglehold on the best of five semi-final series with a 4-2 win over the host Acadia Axemen. Despite holding a 12-3 home record in the regular season, the Axemen are now 0-2 in Wolfville during the playoffs and will need a win on Monday in Antigonish to keep the series alive.

Axemen forward, Sam Fioretti (Calgary, Alta.), scored a natural hat trick to help lift Acadia over Moncton in their last meeting of the year with the Aigles Bleus.

A hat trick performance from Acadia forward Boston Leier (Saskatoon, Sask.) and a four-assist night from newly minted captain, Brett Thompson (Sault Ste. Marie), helped the Axemen snap a two-game skid.

    WOLFVILLE, N.S. - It was a battle between first and second placed teams in the AUS standings in Wolfville on Saturday night, as the U Sports No. 1 UNB Varsity Reds (17-2-3) defeated the U Sports No. 4 ranked Acadia Axemen (14-7-1), by a score of 6-1. Although Acadia jumped out to an early first period lead, UNB scored six unanswered goals to rebound from an overtime loss against Saint Mary's in Friday night's matchup in Halifax.

    (Halifax, NS) The Acadia University Axemen rallied with four goals in the third period to top the Saint Mary’s University Huskies 4-1 on Friday Jan. 6 at the Halifax Forum in Halifax, NS. The loss drops the Huskies to 9-9-1, as they sit fourth in the AUS. The Axemen improved to 12-6-1 and moved into second place in the AUS standings.
