Couture headlines four Axemen honoured by AUS
Atlantic University Sport announced its 2025-26 men’s hockey all-stars and all-rookie team Friday, with four Acadia Axemen recognized for their performances during the regular season.
Goaltender Thomas Couture was named a first team all-star, while forwards Tyler Deline and Brady Burns earned second team honours. Rookie forward Brayden Schmitt was named to the AUS all-rookie team.
Couture adds to his growing list of conference accolades after previously being named both an AUS first team all-star and all-rookie selection in 2023-24.
This season, Couture led both the AUS and U SPORTS in saves with 861. He also ranked third nationally — and first in the AUS — in save percentage at .927.
Couture finished sixth in U SPORTS in wins with 14, ranking third in the AUS, while posting a 2.49 goals-against average — third best in the conference.
Deline earned second team recognition after finishing the season with 25 points in 28 games. He recorded four goals and ranked fourth in the AUS with 21 assists.
He also finished ninth in the conference in plus-minus at +15.
Burns was also named a second team all-star following a 31-point campaign in 30 games.
He ranked 10th in the AUS with 13 goals and 13th in assists with 18, while adding five power-play goals.
Schmitt, meanwhile, was named to the AUS all-rookie team after recording seven goals and 11 assists in his first season with the Axemen.
The Axemen now turn their focus to postseason play, as their AUS semifinal best-of-five series against the Moncton Aigles Bleus gets underway Friday night in Moncton.
