Battlefords' Jordan Grill commits to Axemen hockey
The Acadia Axemen have added a mobile and offensively gifted forward/defenceman to their lineup with the commitment of Jordan Grill from Battleford, Sask., ahead of the 2025–26 season.
Grill played four full seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Battlefords North Stars, suiting up in 168 regular season games and collecting 29 goals and 72 assists for 101 points. He added another 17 points—six goals and 11 assists—across 30 playoff appearances.
"Jordan is a high-energy and physical player that is extremely well conditioned and plays a rugged 200-foot game," said Acadia head coach Darren Burns. "His foot speed and toughness will bring a very important physical component to our game this year. We feel he is a player that will help create an aggressive forecheck and his strength down low in the offensive zone will be a plus. His reputation for his work ethic and loyalty is very exciting. "His competitiveness and do what it takes attitude will also be a big asset for us."
Standing 6'1 and shooting right, Grill developed a reputation as a dependable puck-mover and power-play contributor with a strong skating stride and high hockey IQ. With the Axemen he will be playing forward, although he has played both forward and defence throughout his career.
“I visited Acadia not long ago and fell in love with the school instantly,” said Grill. “The coaching staff made my decision as easy as it could be. They were very welcoming and engaging with me as a person and player. I felt it was the perfect fit and choice for me to continue my career. The big ice will suit my playing style.”
Grill will begin his U SPORTS career this fall, joining an Acadia blue line looking to make an impact in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference.
