WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University, Axemen Soccer Head Coach Amit Batra and Associate Head Coach Findlay MacRae are pleased to announce the commitment of Dartmouth, N.S. native Oscar Marshall.

Marshall spent most of his youth development with the MLS club Montreal Impact's Youth Academy. Entering the Academy at U13 in Montreal, he had to not only adapt to life in a new city and learn the French language, but also establish himself as an Academy regular.

Impact U15 Head Coach Nicholas Gagnon first met Marshall at 12 years of age and had glowing praise for the young player, "As an athlete, he will give you his best every day, will persevere with strong willpower that I have rarely seen. As a player, he will run up and down the pitch, create situations to put the opponent in danger and fight every duel he'll have." Gagnon also spoke highly of Marshall off the field, noting "the way he faced every challenge he had during every phase of his path in the Academy is proof of the outstanding character he has."

During his time in Montreal, Marshall attended several youth national team camps, as well as CONCACAF and other international competitions with his youth club. Since his return to Nova Scotia in the Fall, he has signed on with the United DFC (Dartmouth) Men's Premiership side and was a key contributor to the team's bronze medal at the Canadian Men's National Championships.

Batra added this on the Axemen's most recent signing, "Oscar brings composure, versatility, and speed of play, as well as the personality to fit our locker room and be a part of something special. We are excited about the core returning group we have, and Oscar is part of a strong incoming class who are keen to make the most of an opportunity to grow our program back to where it has been recently, in terms of challenging for the conference and competing at National Championships"

An honours student at Auburn Drive High School where he began this past Fall, Marshall is excited about his commitment to Acadia, "I chose Acadia because I want to be part of a journey that builds something great!" Marshall will enter the highly reputable Bachelor of Business Administration Program at Acadia.

The Axemen open the regular season on Sunday, September 13 at 3:15 p.m. versus the UNB Reds.
