    VICTORIA (U Sports) – DaLeaka Menin, a fourth-year prop from the University of Calgary, was named the U Sports player of the year in women’s rugby, Wednesday night. Menin, a native of Vulcan, Alta., becomes the first Dinos player to take home national MVP honours. Other winners announced during the All-Canadian Banquet held at the Harbour Cente Hotel & Suites were UBC flyhalf MacKenzie Carson, who was named rookie of the year; Acadia wing Kelsey Brumm, who received the Student-Athlete Community Service Award; and Calgary head coach Simon Chi.

    WOLFVILLE, N.S. - The Axewomen rugby team improve to 3-2 with a convincing 45-7 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers. The win over the Panthers helps solidify a second place finish for the Axewomen as they wrap up the season at Saint Mary's next weekend. The loss for the Panthers drops UPEI to 2-3, losing the season series against the Axewomen 74-24.

    WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Acadia University and Axewomen Rugby head coach Matthew Durant announced today the second wave of committed student recruits who will be suiting up for the Axewomen in the fall of 2016. Included in this recent recruiting class are four players from B.C., one from Ontario, one from P.E.I. and a local recruit from Windsor, Nova Scotia.
