Axewomen remain undefeated with 2-0 win over Memorial

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Acadia Axewomen improve their record to 5-0 on the season and remain in top spot in the AUS soccer standings following a 2-0 victory over the Memorial Sea-Hawks at KGV.

Acadia came out on the attack with Jayden Boudreau putting the pressure on the Memorial back line to start the game with a cross right in front of Memorial's goal. The ball would narrowly miss finding a teammate, but it was a sign of things to come, as Acadia kept pressure on the Sea-Hawks for the majority of the game.

Boudreau continues to impress upfront with a beautiful shot in the 17th minute that would find its way past Sydney Walsh and into the back of the Sea-Hawks net. Acadia would use this marker to take a 1-0 lead into half.

Memorial used the halftime to re-group and did register some initial pressure on the Acadia backline, but to no avail. Acadia would increase their lead to 2-0 when Grace Longley scored on a corner kick, which struck both the crossbar and post before crossing the goal line.

Acadia keeper Sarah Charnock played a full 90 minutes with limited challenges on net. Sea-Hawks keeper Sydney Walsh saw 13 total shots on goal and made 11 recorded saves.

Acadia played a very strong game in all aspects and the Sea-Hawks displayed some tough defence to keep the score low but offensively weren't able to get enough shots off to make something happen for them.

The AUS Subway player of the game was awarded to Acadia's Madicynn Harnish for her great leadership on the field throughout the match.
