HALIFAX, N.S. - In AUS women's volleyball action at the Dalplex, the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Acadia Axewomen three sets to one in an entertaining match on Senior Night. 

In the first set, Acadia was able to get an early advantage with a 6-3 lead. But, the Tigers countered this by some nice play of their own to make it 11-10 in their favour. In the middle part of the set, the Tigers took control, eventually building up a 23-13 lead. Dalhousie took the first set 25-13. 

The second set saw Acadia put together another early run to take an early 3-0 lead. However, the Tigers responded once again by immediately tying it up, 3-3. What followed was great back and forth play that led the set to a 14-14 tie. Dalhousie got back into their groove by taking a 20-16 lead and, despite Acadia's attempt to get back into the set, won it 25-22.  

As the third set was in progress, Dalhousie got off to the fast start this time, taking a quick 5-2 lead. But, the Axewomen stayed with them the whole set, with both teams tied 15-15. Dalhousie looked to regain control again, taking an 18-15. But, Acadia wouldn't go away, coming back and taking the third set 25-20. 

In the fourth set, the Tigers had a modest 8-5 early in the set. From that point, Dalhousie put the clamp down, having the set go their way from that point on, leading to a late 23-8 lead. Dalhousie would take the set 25-10. 

Dalhousie was led by Julie Moore (Halifax, NS) with 18 kills, while Mieke DuMont (Kamloops. BC) chipped in 15 kills. Victoria Haworth (Waverley, NS) contributed three blocks while Lauren Koskowich (Calgary, AB) and co-Subway Player of the Game Emma Ciprick (Binscarth, MB) had two. The other co-Subway Player of the Game Tessa Bulmer (Halifax, NS) had one kill for Dalhousie. Ciprick and Bulmer, the two seniors, were honoured in a post-match ceremony for their AUS volleyball careers. 

Acadia was powered by Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON), who had 17 kills, while Lauryn Renzella (Stouffville, ON) had 11. For blocks, Jamie Crocket (Stellarton, NS) had 2 for the Axewomen 

Dalhousie's regular season finale is tomorrow at 7:00 pm against the Moncton Aigles Bleues in Moncton, while this was Acadia's last regular season game.
