Axewomen pick up 3-1 win over host Moncton

MONCTON, N.B. - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (0-3=0pts) went down 3-1 in front of the Acadia University Axewomen (1-2=2pts) on Friday in an Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball game at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud, in Moncton. 

The Axewomen picked up their first regular-season win and improve to 1-2 with an additional game against Moncton this weekend. Both teams meet again today (Saturday) at 4 p.m. at the gymnasium of the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud, on the Moncton campus.  

Moncton lost 25-17, 25-22, 24-26 and 25-23, having won the first set this year in three games. Both teams battled hard in the close sets all through the evening. 

Subway player of the game with the visitors, Peyton DeWolfehad 14 kills and 13 digs for the Axewomen. Lucy Glen-Carter also had 14 kills and Becky Dorsey, 23 digs.

Pascale Doiron registered 8 kills for the Blue and Gold with 12 digs. Christelle Bertin marked her return to action after a two-year absence with 7 kills and 17 digs.
